Bioesthetic Dentistry
Bioesthetic dentistry developed from study of the beauty of living things in their natural forms and functions. It’s based on scientific research of exceptional, natural dentitions where little or no dental repair has been needed to preserve the teeth. In these mouths, teeth are unworn and they provide excellent esthetics, function, comfort, and longevity. An 85 year old person may have the smile of someone 20-30 years younger. Thus, as chronological age progresses into maturity, dental age remains young and vibrant.

Bioesthetic dentistry
is a conservative approach for restoring teeth to natural form and function. It regards the mouth, lips, smile, and face as a collective structure (system) rather than individual units.  Bioesthetics is a recreative art. The goal of treatment is to imitate natural chewing systems that have proven stable over a lifetime. There is a biological basis for tooth position and form with the following goals:
  • Stable, unstrained jaw position with the lower jaw fully seated in the upper jaw socket.
  • Proper overlap (overbite) of the front teeth so they can guide and protect back teeth during jaw movements-chewing, talking, swallowing, and smiling.
  • The teeth fit together (bite relationship) when the jaw is in a stable postion.
  • Unworn, sharp back teeth.
  • The natural bioesthetic shape and form of the teeth is maintained.

When your the teeth don't fit together properly:

  • Your bite is out of balance.
  • Teeth begin a slow or rapid breakdown of cracking, breaking, and wearing away from abnormal biting forces.
  • Sometimes teeth become loose or sensitive.
  • Your teeth, jawbone, and face age prematurely.

We can't stop normal aging of the oral structures. However, complete dental treatment corrects the cause of any instability, abnormal stress, or deterioration so that equilibrium of the chewing system is maintained. Beauty and symmetry of the lips and facial expressions is preserved, and optimal health and comfort of the smile can be maintained.
